In short: Artlist.io offers great looking video stock footage with playlists showing shots from the same series, great music and even some of the best sounding AI voice over I’ve ever used.
Video makes great prototypes
A video with a voice over and some stock footage can tell a service idea in a compelling way. Such videos can be a smart way to test a service idea.
Why I recommend Artlist
Artlist has a bundle where you get:
stock footage that looks better than other stock footage services live storyblocks
Music and sound effects
AI voice over
What makes Artlist really different is the quality of the video and music they are much more artistic and less corporate than what you can find on other services.
The only issue with Artlist is that it’s pricier and offers only annual subscriptions, not monthly ones.
But if you do a few videos per year, it’s really worth it, especially if you also occasionally create internal information or advertisement videos.
Use the story feature to get the most of Artlist videos
Outside of the quality of the videos artlist offers also a smart way to get not just one shot but discover all the videos from the same shooting.
When you click on a video you can click to see the « story » and this reveals usually similar videos with the same actors but from different angles or playing different scenes or emotions.
That’s super handy when you want to tell the story of a fictional character who uses a new service. It allows you to present that character through different videos instead of always using the same shot or having to cut the heads to hide that you are using shots with different actors.
What are cheaper alternatives?
Getting a monthly licence of Descript also includes access to stock footage and music from the Stroyblocks library. This means you get a great video editing tool and a lot of stock footage in one bundle that you can pay for just one month.
At the time of writing a one month license for Descript costs $35 where the Storyblocks licence can be accessed only in a yearly subscription of 360$.
And if you don’t want to pay anything, Pexels Video is there for you. It has less footage but is still totally free.
