🤔 What is workshop fatigue or survey fatigue?

In short: it’s when people within an organisation have seen too many surveys or participated in too many workshops and start to hate these things.

Too much of anything sucks, even workshops or surveys

Everything good in excess becomes annoying, disgusting or painful. Remember how we were excited before the pandemic about remote meetings? And now many of us have a sort of Zoom fatigue.

I feel the same goes for workshops or surveys. At least that’s what I have observed in some big organisations where workers would complain by saying:

Oh no, another survey to fill from another department

This reaction is especially interesting when you compare it with what the person who did the survey might believe people might think:

Oh, great, an opportunity to give my opinion and to have things adapted to our way of working!

Lately I’ve been noticing the same happening with workshops and sprints.

Is it limited to big organisations?

I feel that some companies give that same feeling to their customers too. For example it can become pretty annoying when each of your interaction with a company ends with a survey.
